This has reference to the news item ‘Municipal poll process concludes with 35.1 pc turnout in 4 phases’ DE Oct 17,2018.
It is a matter of satisfaction that the election process for Urban Local Bodies ended peacefully in all provinces of the State. The Government and public deserve kudos for taking part in this democratic process which has been delayed a number of times by the previous Governments on one pretext or the other. The delay politics had caused irreparable damage to the functioning of these ULBs. The voters turn– whether high or low does not matter as many factors played their part in it. Notwithstanding these factors, the election process concluded with the hope that the candidates who will be elected may live upto the expectations of people. These candidates who promised moon to people during canvassing should not betray the trust, people reposed in them. It is a common feeling that elected representatives once elected to corridors of power forget people’s woes, but remain alive to theirs interests, and enjoy power and pelf.
The candidates must remember their duty towards voiceless people who often suffer due to administrative apathy.
