MULBPA’s concern over delay in release of pension

JAMMU, Nov 14: Municipal and Urban Local Bodies Pensioners Association (MULBPA)held a meeting with Executive Body of Municipal and Urban Local Bodies Pensioners Association here, today and discussed failure of J and K Bank in disbursing the monthly pension to them.
The meeting said the pensioners of Urban Local Bodies and Municipalities were not paid pension which has generated a lot of resentment among the pensioners.
The meeting said that a deputation of the Association led by K G Khajuria its advisor met the concerned officers of Local Fund Audit and Pensions Finance Department J and K here to know the cause of stopping the monthly pension of some Urban Local Bodies pensioners of Jammu province . He informed the deputation that they have sent a demand letter to Director Finance Housing and Urban Development Department J&K Government for release of pension funds in favour of Urban Local Bodies and JMC pensioners for the third quarter of the Financial year 2019-20.
They were also informed that the Director has been requested for the allotment of funds for requirement on account of pension and 7th Pay Commission arrears for the second quarter of the Financial year 2019-20 amounting to Rs five crore and Rs two crore on account of liability of fresh pension cases but there is no response from any quarter.
They said due to stoppage of funds, the J&K Bank Government Business Department Srinagar has stopped the disbursement of monthly pension of several local bodies pensioners since more than two months. The meeting said that the local bodies and JMC pensioners were getting pension on first of every month and an agreement has already been signed by the then State Government and J and K Bank Ltd in this regard. But despite the agreement the J&K Bank has also failed in disbursing the pension by breaking its own agreement and putting the senior citizens, old age and ailing pensioners to many problems.
The Association in an appeal to Dheeraj Gupta, Principal Secretary to Government Housing and Urban Local Bodies to look into the matter.
