Channi Himmat residents’ concern over erratic supply of ration

Excelsior Correspondent

JAMMU, Nov 14: A meeting of Channi Himmat Residents Association was held under the chairmanship of its president, Advocate V. K. Grover in which the members expressed their deep anguish over erratic supply of ration for the last couple of years.
Members expressed their unanimous view that what the government is supplying is “FCS & CA sub-standard ‘Atta'(wheat), ‘Rice’ and absolutely no sugar in Jammu. No tenders have been called even after five years” . From time to time this matter has been raised on various platforms but respective governments remained silent on this most important issue, they added.
They said what the public has been repeatedly listening is large scale corruption in Consumer Affairs Department and filing of FIRs for judicial determination of cases against various officials but no word about the resumption of supplies of Sugar and improvement in Atta, Rice which was earlier supplied in bags of 10 Kg each and has been discontinued.
Poisonous and spurious Atta & Rice is being supplied to consumers deliberately forcing them to deny accepting supply of ration from Government PDS outlets. The Association demanded proper notifications and guidelines from Lt. Governor’s regime (After enactment of J&K Reorganization Act, 2019) for issuance of Digitized Ration Cards a matter pending with Government for many years now, supply of ration in proper packing, resumption of regular Sugar supply.
The Association made a fervent appeal to Lt. Governor G. C. Murmu seeking his intervention into the matter and demanded issuance of appropriate instructions to the authorities concerned on all these matters relating to CAPD Department and come to the rescue of consumers of Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
