2-day Thoracic Surgery conference begins in Jammu

JAMMU, Nov 14: Two-day Mid Term Thoracic Surgery Continuous Medical Education (CME) program under the anvil of Indian Association of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgeons is going to begin here today.
The program has been arranged by Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery Department of GMC Jammu. The CME shall have more than 50 senior thoracic surgeons from leading centers of the country who shall be imparting knowledge as well as skill enhancement through hands on workshops in Video Assisted Thoracic Surgery and Robotic platforms for the first time in Jammu.
In addition, there shall be workshops on use of endobronchial ultrasound and Extracorporeal Membrane oxygenation (ECMO) used for bringing out patients of failure of Lung functions. The conference shall have symposium from leading specialist across the surgical field in Lung cancer as well as Lung transplant.
More than 100 doctors working in thoracic surgery field along with postgraduate students from all over country as well as Jammu and Kashmir shall be benefitted by participating in this Continuous Medical Education program.
Leading thoracic surgeons of country like Dr Rajan Santosham, Dr Ali Zamir Khan, Dr Arvind Kumar, Dr Bhabatosh Biswas, Dr R Dewan, Dr Sabyasachi Bal, Dr Rajinder Prashad, Dr Roy Gnanamuthu, Dr George and Ashok Vaid along with Dr Shiv Kumar Nair (president, Indian Association of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgeons of India), Dr CS Hiremath (secretary) and Dr Rajendera Umbarkar (treasurer), Dr TS Mahant, Dr Ashwani Suri and Dr Rajiv Kumar Dr HS Bedi, Dr Sandeep Rana, Dr Shamsher Lochab from ANZCTVS are attending this conference.
The organizing team includes Dr Gurjit Singh, Dr Noor Ali, Dr Ishtiaq Mir, Dr Sham Singh, Dr Mohit Arora, Dr Vivek Gandotra and Dr Bhumika Gupta along with staff of Department of CTVS, GMC Jammu. Dr Arvind Kohli is the organizing secretary of this IACTS-Thoracic CME.
