MSJK protests against hefty power bills

JAMMU, July 30: Mission Statehood Jammu Kashmir (MSJK) activists here today staged a protest demonstration against hefty electricity bills and power and water crisis in Jammu after installing smart meters.
The protest was led by MSJK president, Sunil Dimple who while addressing the protesters demanded return of J&K power projects back to the Union Territory and free electricity and drinking water to the J&K people.
“Poor families have received power bills amounting to Rs. 20,000-30,000 with warning that if the same were not deposited well in time, will incur interest and compound interest,” the MSJK leader claimed.
He demanded that interest should not be charged on electricity bills and permission should be given to the people to deposit the same in installments.
Dimple claimed that substandard quality power cables used by the concerned department gets damaged leading to long duration power cuts.
Rekha Devi, Sunita, Rajni Bala, Semma, Rajinder, Tarsem, Manjiet Anand, Sachin Soi, Sat Sharma, Rupesh Bhat, Bunty Dogra, Ajay Kumar, Arjun and others were also present in the protest.
