UDHAMPUR, Dec 3: A middle-aged woman was knocked to death while her daughter was critically injured when an unidentified vehicle hit them at Sangoor Chowk on National Highway Udhampur, here this morning.

According to the police, both mother and daughter had gone for morning walk when they were hit by the vehicle. They were lying unconscious and bleeding profusely when a Police team spotted them and shifted to District Hospital Udhampur where doctors declared one of them as brought dead.
The deceased was identified as Shamim Begum (56), wife of Mohd Sardar Khan, resident of Subash Nagar Udhampur.
The injured, identified as Raveena Akhtar (35), daughter of Mohd Sardar Khan, was referred to GMC Hospital Jammu in view of her serious condition.
SHO Udhampur, Inspector Raghubir Singh told the Excelsior that a case has been registered in this connection and identity of the vehicle involved in the accident was being ascertained.
