Quiz competition ‘Bharat Ko Jano’ organised

JAMMU, Dec 3: Bharat Vikas Parishad Jammu Kashmir Prant conducted quiz competition ‘Bharat Ko Jano’ in collaboration with The Institution of Engineers, Channi Himmat, here today.
JMC Mayor Rajinder Sharma was chief guest, whereas Dev Raj Sharma, Regional president BVP (North-1) was guest of honour and Sachin Tickoo, honorary secretary, Institution of Engineers was special guest, besides Kumud Mehta, Regional Secretary BVP(Sewa) was the observer of the event.
The competition commenced with the lighting of traditional lamps by the chief guest and others, followed by Vandematram and the welcome address was presented by Narinder Misra, Prant general secretary.
Ashok Khajuria, Prant president threw light on the objectives of BVP and its various achievements, while the chief guest lauded the role of the Parishad which works for’ Sanskars’ and is running various ‘Sewa Projects’ selflessly. Mayor also had an introduction with the children and had all words of praise for the children.
Twelve teams from various branches of BVP participated in senior category and 12 teams in junior category, wherein Gopal Sharma narrated the rules and regulation of the competition. In the junior category, Spring Dales School Kathua bagged 1st prize, while KV No.1 Gandhi Nagar got 2nd and Dogra Hr. Secondary School Shastri Nagar stood 3rd.
In the senior Category, RS Golden School Kathua remained 1st, while Global Convent Hr Secondary School and Dogra Higher Secondary Shastri Nagar got 2nd and 3rd prizes respectively.
While speaking on the event, the guests highlighted the need of inculcating ‘Sanskars’ among youth and shared details of various ongoing activities under the project ‘Sanskars’ and expressed satisfaction over the competition.
The teams which stood 1st will be participating at Regional level competition to be held in Dalhousie on December 11.
Prominent persons including Neena Gupta, Arun Sharma, Amita Sharma, Bharat Bhushan Sharma, Ashok Gupta and others were present during the event. The competition was conducted by Jyotsna Sharma and Gopal Sharma and the event culminated with the National Anthem, followed by vote of thanks presented by Rajesh Gupta.
