SRINAGAR, May 16: Member Legislative Assembly Kathua Dr. Bharat Bhushan today called on Jal Shakti Minister Javed Ahmed Rana in Civil Secretariat Srinagar and apprised him about the drinking water issues of Kathua.
MLA apprised Minister that Kathua town and Kandi areas of Kathua constituency are facing scarcity of drinking water especially in these Summer months and there is urgent need to augment the water supply so that people don’t suffer due to shortage of drinking water. He added that many schemes of Jal Jeevan Mission which are nearing completion need to be completed physically and financially too to make them functional and beneficial for the people.
He invited Minister to lay foundation of ambitious Amrut Schemes 2.0 sanctioned for Kathua, Lakhanpur and Nagri towns aggregating to 55 crores so that these three towns of Kathua can be provided drinking water as per projected population of the year 2040.
MLA Chanpora constituency Mushtaq Guro was also present during the deliberations.
