SRINAGAR, May 16: National Conference General Secretary Ali Mohammad Sagar presided over one-day convention of the Working Committee of District Budgam comprising delegates, working committee members and block functionaries at the party’s district headquarters, Mujahid Manzil, Budgam.
Among those present on the occasion were Additional General Secretary and Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) Choudhary Mohammad Ramzan, MLAs Ali Mohammad Dar, Dr Mohammad Shafi and Saif-ud-Din Bhat; Provincial President Showkat Ahmad Mir, Provincial Secretary Syed Tawqeer, senior leader Aga Syed Mahmood, Minority Wing Organizer J.S. Azad, Trade Union Convenor Ghulam Mohammad Hamdard and Nazir Ahmad Gogoo. The convention was organised by District President Budgam Ghulam Nabi Bhat.
During the convention, organisational matters and issues of public importance were discussed in detail. Speakers highlighted the governance and welfare initiatives undertaken by the Omar-led Government and stressed the need to strengthen the party at the grassroots level by taking the achievements of the elected Government to every doorstep.
Addressing the gathering, Ali Mohammad Sagar said the National Conference Government remains firmly committed to fulfilling the aspirations of the people and ensuring inclusive and people-centric development across Jammu and Kashmir. He said party workers must actively engage with the public and counter the false and politically motivated propaganda being spread by the BJP and PDP.
“BJP and PDP are reading from the same script. Frustrated by the overwhelming public response to the Omar-led Government’s pro-poor initiatives, they are now resorting to peddling baseless narratives and non-issues to mislead the people,” Sagar said.
He said the Omar Government has delivered tangible relief to economically weaker sections through a series of welfare measures, including 200 units of free electricity and 10 kg additional ration per person for AYY families, free bus travel for women in Government transport, enhancement of pensions for over 10 lakh vulnerable persons and increasing marriage assistance for EWS girls from Rs 50,000 to Rs 75,000.
Speaking on the occasion MP Chowdry Mohammad Ramzan said the Omar-led Government has prioritised responsive and people-centric governance while working tirelessly to address public concerns. The opposition parties have failed to digest the growing public confidence in the NC Government and are therefore trying to divert attention through misinformation and divisive politics, he alleged.
