‘Mission Kalam’, online tribute to 11th President of India

NEW DELHI, July 25: Pink Jaguars Entertainment, a Hollywood film production company, on Saturday inaugurated an online convention ‘Mission Kalam’, paying tributes to the 11th President of India Dr A P J Abdul Kalam.
The Los Angeles, US based production company is making a biopic on the former president, titled ‘Dr A P J Abdul Kalam’, written and directed by Jagadeesh Daneti, and produced by Johnny Martin.
Information and Broadcasting minister Prakash Javadekar had announced this biopic in Delhi on February 9, 2020 to be made into Hollywood and all Indian languages, with the support of Governments of India and the US.
Mr Javadekar had unveiled the first look poster in presence of Johnny Martin, Madhur Bhandarkar and many film and political personalities.
The online convention which started today (the day when Dr Kalam took charge as 11th President of India in 2002), and will go on till October 15th (Dr Kalam’s birthday).
The event will be observed and organised for 11 weekends with 11 online zoom sessions.
Eminent personalities from various fields shared window with those who travelled with Dr Kalam for decades in the Zoom session.
The digital inauguration was attended by Shaina NC, BJP spokesperson and fashion designer; Vellaichamy Ponraj, former advisor to Dr Kalam; Shekhar Rao Perala, ex vice-chairperson, Nehru Yuva Kendra Sanghatan (NYKS); Vasa Seshagiri Rao, IRS; J N Raju, Krishna Rao Guntuku, S M Subhani, Padmini Kacchapi, director Jagadeesh Daneti, and actor Mohammed Ali, who played the role of Dr Kalam in the biopic.
Mr Daneti who held the megaphone for biopic of Dr Kalam announced that they wish to bring millions of his fans and followers together to perform “Kalam Anthem” online on October 15, by involving dignitaries from India and the US.
Mohd Ali who will portray the role of Dr Kalam in the biopic said,”This is my prestigious opportunity to play A P J Abdul Kalam. I have done 1100 movies. Mr Kalam was 11th President of India, and this is my 1111 film as Dr Kalam.” “Dr Kalam was a humble and kind person and I am thankful to everybody especially Pink Jaguars Entertainment for giving me this opportunity,” Ali added. Suvarna Pappu, managing director, Pink Jaguars Entertainment and producer for the film, said,”This convention will have leaders from various areas of expertise to share their experiences on Dr Kalam.”
Taking to micro-blogging site Twitter, Ms Shaina said,”When you wish upon a star, Makes no difference who you are, Anything your heart desires, Will come to you.Glad to be the keynote speaker for #MissionKalam,I echoed his great thoughts-For great men,religion is a way of making friends;small people make religion a fighting tool.” (PTI)
“While the biopic is a great step to make people aware about Dr Kalam’s journey, a lot more is needed to be done to understand what he stood for. We need to do beyond the films, museums maybe,” Ms Shaina said in the Zoom meeting.
“At this given point in time, there are very few people who understand the relevance of Dr Kalam. Post Covid-19, life has changed and we have realised the power of simplicity. It is important to think about the past and realise that there are legends who are remembered for their sheer simplicity and brilliant vision,” added Ms Shaina.
Mr Vellaichamy said,”I hope the biopic will inspire youth across the globe as the growth of science and technology is parallel to the growth of Dr Kalam.”
“Dr Kalam was a man of simple living and high thinking. He was a man of actions and not just words. He had enlightened 130 crore people,” Mr Perala said.
Mr Daneti also announced the biopic’s Hollywood title ‘The Immortal President’, saying he is thankful to the fans and followers of Mr Kalam. (UNI)
