KATHUA, Jan 17: Irate people held a protest demonstration and blocked Jammu-Pathankot National Highway for two hours in between Kotta and Patta Rasna in Hiranagar tehsil of Kathua district today against the mysterious death of an eight year old tribal girl whose body was found in the nearby forests this morning.
The protesters raising slogans against the administration and police demanded arrest of the culprits involved in killing of the girl.
The tribal girl identified as Rafiqa D/o Mohamed Yousf of Patta Rasana in Hiranagar tehsil was reported missing on January 12 and a case in this connection was registered at Police Station Hiranagar. Her whereabouts could not be ascertained during one week by the police and today the dead body was found in the nearby forest area.
Panic gripped the village after the news spread and the irate people including family members and relatives of the girl along the dead body protested at National Highway and blocked it for two hours this afternoon.
Later SHO Hiranagar visited the area and assured the people that police has already started investigation and culprits responsible for the death will not be spared. On his assurance the people lifted the road blockade.
The Hiranagar Police had already registered a case under Section 363 of RPC.
