SRINAGAR, Jan 17: Police today claimed to have arrested two timber smugglers and seized two tractors which were loaded with illegal timber in Mattan area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district.
A Police spokesman said that a police party of Police Station Mattan led by SHO Mattan after acting on a specific information seized two tractors bearing registration numbers JK03/6779 and JK03F/ 4494 which were loaded with illegal timber at Kehribal Mattan.
The timber smugglers identified as Ramiz Farooq Dar son of Farooq Ahmad Dar, a resident of Brakpora and Fasil Rashid Dar son of Abdul Rashid Dar, a resident of Brakpora Anantnag were arrested, he said
A case with FIR Number 03/2018 under Section 379, 406, 407, 409, 109 and 06 Forest Act has been registered in Police Station Mattan in this regard and further investigation taken up.
