JAMMU, Dec 6: The first-ever selfie point with an installation ‘I Love Jammu’ set up under the Smart City Mission at B C Road here was damaged by some miscreants, following which an FIR was lodged at Police Station Jammu Bus Stand.
As per police sources, the selfie point was inaugurated by Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Jammu Smart City Limited (JSCL) Avny Lavasa on October 29 this year and had become a major attraction for the local residents and tourists.
“It was a heartbreak moment for the people of the city when they found the selfie point damaged by some miscreants who removed its heart logo as well as other alphabets”, sources said, adding police is scrutinising the CCTV camera footage, which had gone viral on the social media sites.
However, a case under FIR Number 77/2021 under Section 427 IPC has been registered at Police Station Bus Stand on the complaint of Additional Chief Executive Officer JSCL Hitesh Gupta and hunt has been launched to nab the miscreants.
Condemning the incident, local residents urged people not to damage public properties.
“These properties belong to the people of Jammu and maintaining them is our responsibility”, they added.
It is pertinent to mention here that, JSCL was constituted in August 2017 by the JK administration for the implementation of Smart City Development Projects in Jammu city.
