Srinagar, Nov 30: Hurriyat Conference (M) chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq today asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi to give peace a real chance by positively responding to his Pakistani counterpart Imran Khan’s repeated offers of engagement.
While addressing Friday congregation at Jamia Masjid here, Mirwaiz said that Narendra Modi should positively respond to Imran Khan’s repeated offers of engagement so that both can build trust and give peace a real chance.
He said that India should show the maturity of a democracy by engaging with Pakistan and Kashmir and resolve this long standing dispute in a peaceful manner. “People of Kashmir need it the most as we are bearing the biggest brunt of the lingering dispute,” he said.
Mirwaiz said that there is no military approach to the issues and Kartarpur like initiatives are way forward. “Military approach to issues can never succeed, but human approach to them as witnessed in the opening of Kartarpur Corridor is the best way forward,” he said.
The Huriyat Chairman appealed to the Government of India to stop the killings in Kashmir and blinding them by pellets.
