Mir asks world tourists to visit Kashmir, captivate spring beauty

SRINAGAR, Mar 29: Minister for Tourism Ghulam Ahmad Mir has called upon the world tourists to visit Kashmir and enchant the beauties of spring bestowed to the valley known as Paradise on Earth, adding that Kashmir valley has its own charm in all the seasons of the year.
Addressing at a function today organized by Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST), Awantipora for celebration of spring festival, the Minister said that among all four seasons , spring has its own importance and the spring season brings mesmerizing and pleasant scenes of nature, with blooming tulip gardens and the orchards of almond, cherry, apple, pears and pansies.
The Tourism Minister said, “we are going to organize several events here in valley to popularize and explore the immense of tourism potential during this year”, adding that an International Saffron Festival would be organized in October this year. He said several gardens have been thrown open including tulip garden for tourist.
He said standard tourist infrastructure is being upgraded besides promotion of adventure, sports, pilgrim and heritage tourism receives focused attention of the Government.
He said that peace is nerve for tourism boom, and appealed the people to contribute at their end as tourism is main stay of our economy. He also called upon the student community to play their role towards flourishing tourism in the state adding that they would contribute much by writing articles on tourism activities.
The Minister said that nature has bestowed our State with scenic beauty, natural resources and we all have to play our role for its preservation, sustenance and safeguard.
He said that Government has taken various revolutionary steps for boosting tourism sector so that goal of improving socio-economic condition of people related with tourism sector at large can be improved besides ensuring prosperity and development in the state.
Mr. Mir also inaugurated Kashmir Spring Festival at Zabarwan Park where he distributed awards among 200 school children who have participated in Shikara race and painting competitions.
The function was attended a large number of people which include tourists and school children also.
