JAMMU, Mar 29: Up in arms against unprecedented hike in annual fee and other charges by KC International School, parents of some students studying there held a strong protest demonstration, here today.
Shouting slogans against the school management and demanding roll back in fee hike and other charge, the protesting parents blocked the Jammu-Akhnoor road in front of the school premises near BSF Camp Paloura.
Due to blockage of the ever busy road, traffic on both sides remained suspended for more than an hour following which Police swung into action but their protest passed off peacefully.
Terming the hike in annual fee and other charges as irrational, the protesting parents alleged that the school management was forcing them to get their wards leave the school. They accused the school management of looting the parents of their hard earned money on the pretext of various charges.
The protesting parents also appealed the Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to personally look into their grievance and issue necessary instruction to the school management over the fee issue.
The protesters dispersed off after the intervention of police, which arranged a meeting between the protesting parents and the school management.
When contacted, the management of KC International claimed that the school was charging annual fee as per Government guidelines and set norms.
“A handful of parents, whose wards could not get through in the annual exams, are trying to blackmail the management by resorting to protests,” said Chetanya Choudhary, Managing Director of KC International.
