POONCH, July 30: A minor girl was drowned in Pulast river near Mandi town while two other children were rescued when they had gone for bathing to the river this afternoon.
Police sources said that three children including Shabnam Akhtar, daughter Zakir Hussain; Hassan Din and Umar Din, residents of Jallian village in Mandi had gone to the river site for bathing. Due to rain in the upper reaches, the water level increased and Shabnam was drowned. Two other drowning children Hassan Din and Umar Din were rescued by the villagers. With multiple injuries they were shifted to Mandi hospital. The body of the girl was yet to be recovered, the police said.
