MENDHAR, Aug 3: An eight year-old girl has been beheaded at village Darana in tehsil Mendhar of Poonch district.
The deceased has been identified as 8-year-old Musarat Naz, daughter of Zakir Hussain, resident of Darana in Mendhar tehsil. The incident took place at around 2.30 pm. The minor girl, a student of Class 3rd was playing near her compound. She was beheaded with some sharp edged weapon. The neighbours noticed the girl lying in pool of blood with her neck apart and raised alarm.
The people and other members of her family rushed and informed police. The police party led by SDPO Mendhar Surinder Choudhary and SHO rushed there. While the parents of the girl alleged that their daughter has been murdered by Zaffar, uncle of the girl, most of the people including some family members alleged that girl has been done to death by her father.
The police examined the spot and shifted the dead body of the deceased girl to Mendhar Hospital for postmortem. A Medical Board under the supervision of BMO, Mendhar Dr Parvez conducted the postmortem and handed over the body to the family. The police registered a case and started investigation.
SDPO when contacted said that father of the deceased has been detained for questioning on the basis of allegations raised by many people of that locality. Investigation is in progress and the case will be solved shortly.
