Minister tours Nubra, assures early redressal of issues

LEH, July 27: On the second day of his two-day visit to the Nubra constituency, J&K Minister for Ladakh Affairs and Cooperatives Tsering Dorjey Lakrook visited Kubed, Aayee, Aranu Yokma, Aranu Gongma, Khemi, Nyungsted, Gonbo, Tongsted, Henachi, Changlung, Sasoma and Taksha villages to assess the on-going developmental works and to address the grievances of the general public.
The Minister was accompanied by Executive Councillor for Tourism & CA&PD Tsering Sandup, SDM Nubra Vijay Kumar Sharma, Tehsildar Sumoor, Executive Engineer Special Sub-Division Nubra, BDO Panamik, and other concerned engineers.
The people of Yarma belt mainly demanded for black-topping of Khemi to Yarma Gonbo road, motorable bridge at Khemi nallah, erection of mobile tower, and sanctioning of Nubra Development Authority.
The Minister informed the villagers that tender for black topping has already been forwarded and the proposal for bridge at Khemi nullah has already been sent to the Central Road. He assured of follow up for its early sanction. The mobile towers will be erected by autumn this year he added.
He further assured the villagers that effort is going on for opening up of Tourism Development Authority in Nubra and talks were going with the Government for extending of the tourist permit upto Yarma Gonbo.
On demanding for completion of Shatsey-Takna bridge by the villagers, the Minister said that efforts will be made for additional funds for the completion of bridge.
The villagers at Khemi demanded for opening up of LPG distribution centre to which the EC for Tourism and CA&PD Tsering Sandup said that opening up of one such centre is already sanctioned at Phukpochey and that it will not take much time for opening up of the centre.
Aranu Yokma, the Minister announced amount of Rs. 2 lakh for restoration of irrigation canal.
