JAMMU, July 27: BJP State President & MLA Sat Sharma CA, along with senior officials of police and civil administration, including DIG Ashkoor Wani, Deputy Commissioner Simrandeep Singh, SP North Vinod Kumar, Dy.SP Sugandha Mahajan, SHO Janipur Virender Gupta, visited Excelsior Lane in Ward No. 36 falling under Jammu West Assembly Constituency, where the heavy rains and floods consumed two precious lives of young girls.
He met the bereaved families, expressed condolences and conveyed party’s sympathies to them. He also went around other lanes of this Ward as well as in adjoining Ward No. 37 to take stock of the damages caused by the heavy rains.
Sat Sharma, soon after getting the news of the sad tragedy, immediately rushed to the spot with senior officials. On his intervention, compensation of Rs four lakh to each bereaved family was got sanctioned through Deputy Commissioner, Jammu.
Sat Sharma, while terming today’s heavy rains and floods as most tragic natural calamity, said that the people have suffered losses on account of damages to vehicles, properties, many roads, lanes and drains have been badly damaged. He stressed upon PHE, PWD and PDD authorities to immediately take up the repair works in the affected areas to ensure that people are not made to suffer.
The BJP senior leader and MLC Ramesh Arora also visited the Excelsior Lane where the heavy rains and flash floods claimed lives of two girls. Mr Arora while expressing his shock and grief over the tragedy asked the administration to provide every sort of support and help to bereaved families.
