JAMMU, Apr 19: Minister for Health and Medical Education, Bali Bhagat, today directed Principal Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu, Dr Zahid Geelani, to attach HoD Gastro, Dr Showket Choudhary, after the endoscopy machine in his department was found missing.
According to official sources, following the directions of the concerned Minister, Principal GMCH, Dr Zahid Geelani yesterday issued a order to shift the endoscopy machine from Super Specialty Hospital Jammu to GMCH.
They said this evening a team of GMC Jammu comprising Principal, GMCH Jammu along with police force reached Super Specialty Hospital, Jammu and asked the concerned official for key of the room but he refused from opening the door. “In the meanwhile, a mob of about 20-25 persons including patients and attendants opposed the move of the GMC team and even misbehaved and abused the team officials”, sources said.
They said, however, with the help of police they broke the lock of the endoscopy room but were shocked to see that the endoscopy machine was missing from the room.
“The matter was reported to the Minister, who directed to attach the HoD Gastro, Dr Showket Choudhary with Principal GMCH. However, it could not be ascertained whether the order was implemented, as despite several efforts, the Principal, GMCH could not be contacted.
When contacted, Dr Showket Choudhary, said the whole episode occurred in his absence and that too during a public holiday. “No body from the hospital administration informed me prior to this action either verbally or in writing”, he added.
However, he maintained that the endoscopy machine is in the room and raised fingers on the intentions of the GMCH team, saying they are making false stories for unknown reasons.
