SRINAGAR: Admitting that there are inputs that militants can target the Amarnath yatra, commencing from July 2, Director General of Border Security Force K K Sharma today expressed hope that the pilgrimage will be peaceful.
Talking to reporters on the sidelines of a wreath laying ceremony on mortal remains of three BSF personnel killed in yesterday’s militants attack at Bijbehara, he said, “there are intelligence inputs that militants are planning to target Amarnath yatra.”
“As you know BSF is also involved in providing security to pilgrims during the yatra, I assure you that this year too the pilgrimage will be peaceful,” he added. Mr Sharma said, security arrangements for the success of the yatra have already been finalised.
He said, “there is concentration on the border and attempts are being made from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) to send militants into this side.” But, he said security forces are already on high alert to foil any infiltration attempt from across the Line of Control (LoC). (AGENCIES)
