JAMMU, Mar 16: All Kashmiri migrant relief holders held a protest demonstration at Jagti township today demanding enhancement of monthly cash relief to Rs. 30,000.
With placards and banners in their hands the protestors shouted slogans in support of their demands and expressed their concern over the stoic silence maintained by Government on burning problems of relief holders who are unable to bear their day to day expenses as the prices have touched sky.
The protestors also demanded Rs 50 lakh as compensation for rehabilitation of over aged youth and compensation be given to every migrant family with per day relief of Rs 250 per soul with one Government job to each displaced family from Valley.
The protestors said nothing on the ground has been done by successive governments to heal the wounds of displaced Pandits who suffered a great tragedy in 1990 after entire community was forced to leave Kashmir by the separatists and Pakistani terrorists.
The protestors said instead of taking concrete steps of rehabilitating the community it seems that Governments that be are taking pleasure of our plight and there is no willpower in settling this peace loving community in their homeland.
They said the community especially the youth had pinned high hopes in present Government at Delhi but to our dismay it is also adopting the policy of its predecessor pseudo secular Governments.
The protestors said that they need support for their survival and treatment of their ailing parents but under the prevailing circumstances and apathetic attitude of the Government the community youth is in total desperation and dejection and it seems that welfare of displaced Pandits is no where in the scheme of things of the Government.
Those who were addressed the protesters are Ravinder Koul, Ajay Bhat, Veer Ji, Kaka Ji Bhan, Bittu Ji, Rakesh Kumar, Kundan Lal, Chander and others.
