JAMMU, Dec 5: Mayor of Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC), Chander Mohan Gupta today visited the areas of Rajpura, Shiv Nagar and other adjoining localities and started work of walkway at Shanti Ghat in Shiv Nagar.
A handout stated that the work will be completed at the cost of Rs. 5.25 lakh and was the long pending demand of the locals there.
The Mayor also started the construction work of lane and drain at Shakti Nagar which will be completed at the cost of Rs. 5 lakh.
Speaking on the occasion, the Mayor directed the Engineering section of JMC to expedite other development works on priority to minimize the sufferings of people.
Surinder Chowdhary, Councillor of Ward No. 29; Keshav Chopra, BJP Mandal president; Agyodha Gupta, Karan Sharma, Ved Sharma, Balwan Singh, Satpal Khajuria, Sahil Sharma, Atul Bakshi, Kushant, Rakesh and others along with officers of Engineering Wing of JMC accompanied the Mayor.
Later, the Mayor started the construction work of lane and drain at Kali Jani which will be completed at the cost of Rs. 10 lakh.
Councillors Sunita Koul and Jyoti Devi along with Raju, Meenakshi, Chanchala, Parveen, Anjali, Sahil and prominent citizen of the area were also present on the occasion.
The Mayor asked the locals to co-operate JMC in making Jammu neat, clean & green and stop using polythene bags and single use plastic.
