JAMMU, Sept 6: JMC Mayor Chander Mohan Gupta along with Dy Mayor Purnima Sharma today inaugurated the beautification work on fourth Tawi bridge at Bhagwati Nagar Jammu.
Speaking on the occasion, Mayor said that in order to beautify this bridge which is a through fare for citizens of Jammu, beautiful tree guards, flower pots and other saplings of different categories have been installed at the centre as well as on both sides of this bridge and has been thrown open for the general public today who can take full benefit of this eco-friendly atmosphere while crossing the area.
He further said that beautiful LED lights will also be installed at this site for illumination purpose and it will become one of the rarest bridge in terms of beautification. JMC in collaboration with other agencies have already taken up the job for beautifying all the four bridges on Surya Putri Tawi river from where lakhs of people including tourists/pilgrims from other parts of the country pass on routine basis, he added.
Besides this, Mayor along with other dignitaries present there, also inaugurated the rotary near this bridge as Major Somnath Chowk where the statue of brave Dogra soldier, who laid down his life bravely at the young age of just 25 years and was also awarded Paramvir Chakra posthumously by Government of India, will be installed as soon as possible by JMC. He further said that the road from Bhagwati Nagar up to SOS Home has recently been widened by the PWD after initiatives were taken by the JMC.
