The Border Security Force (BSF) and Army authorities are helping these people and providing water tankers on daily basis while civil administration has failed to come to their rescue.
Sources said that there are many such villages in KG sector near the LOC, where water supply has not reached for the last several decades. The people are dependent only on the Army and BSF for their daily water needs. In Krishna Ghati sector in Poonch district, people are facing severe scarcity of water. Many times people pleaded with the administration and the local leaders about this problem, but no one reached up to them to resolve their water issue.
The local BSF unit has come to their rescue. They local unit is providing them water tanker on daily basis whether it is summer or winter, rain or wind storm.
Mohd Salim, Farida Bi and Mushtaq Ahmed, local residents say that if we did not have BSF here, then today our situation would have worsened. “Our only support is BSF, not only in terms of water supply but in case of any emergency as well. Therefore, we have good coordination with the local BSF/ Army units. We have not received any help from the Government in this area, nor has any leader paid attention, many times we raised the demand, but nobody listened,” they added.
People have appealed to Lt Governor Manoj Sinha of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir to come to their rescue and resolve their water issue.
