JAMMU, Mar 8: Chairman, Anjuman Minhaje Rasool (S), Maulana Syed Athar Dehlavi today strongly opposed the release of separatist leader, Masrat Alam by the State Government.
Talking to media persons here, he said his organization does not appreciate release of Alam as it was against the national interests. This release is not a humanitarian issue, he added.
Maulana Dehlavi said his organization was the first to issue an edict against Masrat Alam in 2010 after he created unrest in Kashmir Valley.
He said Masrat Alam was the master mind of 2010 unrest and he was responsible in stone pelting in Kashmir in which 120 people lost their lives. The release of such a person is a threat to national unity and security, he added.
He said Prime Minister, Narendra Modi has to act more alertly on such vital issues concerning national unity and integrity. “It is surprising that no statement has come from him on the release of Masrat Alam and handing over of corpse of Parliament attack mastermind Afzal Guru ’’, he added.
Moulana said a precedence was set by NDA allies including Akalis and those from North East who promoted such elements in their states earlier. So release of Masarat Alam by PDP-BJP coalition is not any thing new as precedence has already been set in the country, he added.
Criticising the Chief Minister for his controversial statements given from the day one he took oath, Moulana said it seems that Chief Minister has no developmental programme for Jammu and Kashmir.
Both PDP and BJP are raising emotive issues and the two parties are not paying any attention to development, he added.
He appealed both Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed to respect the sentiments of people and not to play with them in the larger interests of the State and country.
