JKCA’s Jammu District Cricket Tournament

JAMMU, May 14: Manik Gupta displayed brilliant captaincy skills when it mattered the most, while Jatin Wadhawan scored fabulous fifty to overpower magnificent knocks of Satish Kumar and Shashi Kumar and guide Kishan Chand Cricket Club (KCCC) to a thrilling 4-run win over formidable Simula Cricket Club in the ongoing JKCA’s Jammu District Cricket Tournament, being played at GGM Science College Hostel ground, here.
The Tournament is being held under the overall supervision of Jang Bahadur Singh Jamwal, Member Judicial State Human Rights Commission and Member JKCA.
Earlier, batting first, KCCC scored a decent total of 165 runs in the stipulated 30 overs. Jatin Wadhawan top scored with 52 runs, while Suryansh Raina contributed 38 runs to the total. Skipper Manik Gupta, Sahil Lotra and Soumay Jain chipped in with 16, 11 and 10 runs respectively. From Simula Club, Raman Dutta took 3 wickets, while Akash Choudhary, Abhinav Khajuria and Ritik shared 2 wickets each. Kuldeep Kumar also claimed one wicket.
In reply, Simula Cricket Club after early hiccups, rode on a brilliant partnership of over 100 runs between Shashi (50) and Satish (59) to be comfortably placed at 130/2 in 22 overs. However, brilliant display of captaincy by Manik Gupta and superb bowling show by Sawan Singh, Soumay Jain and part-timer Shubham Khajuria made all the difference, who restricted the rival team to 161 in 30 overs, thus guiding their team to a narrow win by 4 runs. Sawan took 3 wickets, while Soumay and Shubham claimed 2 and one wicket respectively.
Ankush Abrol, former member BCCI and mentor of Kishan Chand Cricket Club was present on the occasion, who interacted with the players of both the teams.
