JAMMU, June 22: A mentally disturbed man, who had set himself ablaze by sprinkling petrol on him in Gandhi Nagar area of city outskirts on June 17, succumbed to his burn injuries late last night.
“On the evening of June 17, a man identified as Harmeet Singh son of Yashpal Singh, resident of Bhour Camp, sprinkled petrol on him and set himself on fire in front of Fateh Singh Gurudwara in Gandhi Nagar area”, a police official said.
He said the man was admitted in Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu with 100 % burn injuries on the same day but after battling with the life for over three days, he expired last night around 11: 50.
“Today after completing all medico legal formalities, the body of the deceased was handed over to his legal heirs for last rites”, he said, adding Gandhi Nagar police had already taken cognizance of the matter.
