JAMMU, Aug 27: A 35-year-old man was found hanging at his residence in Channi Himmat area here today, police said.
They said Amit Gupta son of late Parshotam Lal Gupta of House number 162/B, Sector-7, South Extension, Channi Himmat, Jammu, was spotted hanging with the help of a fan and bed sheet at his residence around 7:15 am.
He was taken to Government Medical College Jammu where doctors declared him as dead on arrival, said police.
The body of the deceased has been shifted to the mortuary of the hospital for conducting the post-mortem while as inquest proceedings have been initiated at Police Station Channi to ascertain the reasons as to why the man took such an extreme step to end his life.
