Mamta Singh seeks information of schemes for weaker sections

JAMMU, Apr 21: A prominent social activist and State convener of Mahila Samanvay, Mamta Singh, visited Head Office of Jammu and Kashmir Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes & Backward Classes Development Corporation Limited, at Gandhi Nagar, here, and held an interaction with the Vice Chairperson of the Corporation,  Balbir Ram Rattan.
Manager Projects Mohammed Iqbal Kataria, Section Officer Anu Gupta and Technical Supervisor Rupali Langer were also present in the meeting.
Mamta Singh was briefed about various welfare schemes of the Corporation meant for the socio-economic upliftment of the unemployed members of the reserved categories, like SCs, STs, BCs, National Level Notified Minorities, Safai Karancharis, people with physical disabilities, including disabled soldiers and their disabled dependents.
Mamta Singh was also apprised of the procedure, formalities, rate of interest and the loan amount to be granted to the unemployed persons of the said categories to set up own earning units and become self reliant instead of becoming burden on the parents. The facility of educational loan for meritorious students of the reserved categories was also discussed with her informing that one can go for professional and technical degree course in recognized institutions within India and abroad on a meagre interest of 3.5 to 4 per cent.
The Vice Chairperson and Mamta Singh also agreed on organizing awareness camps in Billawar and Basohli so that the deserving people there are in a position to understand the schemes of the Corporation and avail their benefits.
