Malhotra reviews Kharif programmes

SAMBA, Oct 6: Ashok Kumar Malhotra, Director Agriculture, Jammu held a meeting of field officers and extension functionaries of Samba District to review the Kharif Programmes and preparedness for Rabi 2016-17 cropping season in which more than 200 field functionaries participated.
He along with the team of officers from the Directorate of Agriculture had a detailed interaction with Chief Agriculture Officer, District Officers, Sub-Divisional Agriculture Officers, Agriculture Extension Officers, Junior Agriculture Extension Officers (JAEOs) and Village Agriculture Extension Assistants (VAEAs).
While deliberating on stocking of various inputs including seeds and fertilizers for the ensuing Rabi Crop Season, Malhotra said that that sale rates and transport plan for their timely availability to farmers has already been finalized and exhorted upon the officers and extension functionaries of the district to strive collectively to achieve the goal of doubling of farmers’ income through technical interventions.  There was also detailed discussion on specialized crop production areas, establishment of Paddy Procurement Centres, Oilseed Production Programme, Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY), Soil Health Card Scheme, KCC and other Centrally Sponsored Schemes (CSS).
Malhotra directed all the Officers to develop and maintain the data bank of KCC, Beekeepers, Mushroom Growers and Vegetable Farmers for proper planning of development activities.
Earlier, Choudhary Mohd Iqbal, Chief Agriculture Officer Samba presented the PowerPoint Presentation on various ongoing programmes and achievements.
