JAMMU, Sept 9: Maharaja Agrasen University organized its first convocation in the campus today.
Manohar Lal, Chief Minister of Haryana was the chief guest. Dr Nand Kishore Garg, Chancellor of the University and the Chairman of the Maharaja Agrasen Technical Education Society presided over the Convocation.
Congratulating the students who were awarded degrees, Manohar Lal,Chief Minister expressed his hope that they would work tirelessly and contribute their might for the upliftment of society and the nation.
The Chief Minister shared his experiences with the teachers and students. He told that the present Government gives utmost importance to skill development of the youth from whom our nation has great hopes.
Dr Nand Kishore Garg, the Chancellor of the University presented a memento to the Chief Minister. He said that Maharaja Agrasen Technical Education Society has always been engaged in various social activities and the establishment of Maharaja Agrasen University is an important milestone to attain this objective.
The Convocation started in the traditional way by lighting of lamp and chanting Sarswati Vandna. A unique feature of the Convocation was that all faculty members and Awardees wore traditional Indian dress, in place of black gowns, a legacy of the British.
Prof (Dr.) S P Bansal presented the Annual Report of the University detailing various achievements during the course of the year.
In the Convocation, post graduate students of MBA, MHTA and M. Sc (Forensic Science) were awarded degrees. Ms. Shivali Sharma (MBA), Sangita Chatterjee (MHTA) and Ruchi Sharma (M. Sc Forensic Science) were conferred Gold Medals, being Toppers in their respective courses.
