Kathua, May 8: Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kathua, Mohit Sharma, on Thursday said that Nakul Singh was allegedly murdered following a scuffle with his friend, Parthav Verma (19), reportedly over a love-related issue.
Addressing the media, SSP Sharma said that during the altercation, the accused allegedly struck Nakul repeatedly on the head with a cricket bat until he collapsed.
The officer further stated that when Nakul’s younger brother entered the house, the accused allegedly attacked him as well with the bat, fearing that he could identify him. The younger brother also collapsed during the assault but survived.
After committing the crime, the accused allegedly fled from the scene after taking away Nakul Singh’s mobile phone, police said.
SSP Sharma said police later traced the accused through call detail records (CDR) and arrested him from within the district. He added that both Nakul and the accused were friends and further investigation into the case is underway.(KNC)
