SRINAGAR, Apr 5: The authorities in Pulwama are adding to the miseries of the traders, students as well as residents as the garbage collected across the town is being dumped near Degree College Pulwama along the circular road.
Locals told Excelsior that on daily basis, the garbage is being dumped near the college on the circular road Pulwama despite a lot of space being available for the same at other places.
“They get all the garbage and dump it here where there are several business establishments facing immense trouble due to the non-serious attitude of the concerned authorities,” the locals said.
They said that the garbage dumping site is potent of resulting in health hazards while the COVID-19 pandemic is still on.
“Our business has already suffered, and now, while the garbage is being regularly dumped near our shops, it has further affected us, economically as well as health-wise,” the traders said.
Notably, the area where the garbage is being dumped not only houses several business establishments but also is a residential area causing troubles to the residents as well.
“They have got plenty of space in the town to dump the garbage, but they have chosen the spot despite knowing that the area is residential, houses business establishments and also near the Degree College,” the residents said.
The residents as well as the locals have appealed to the concerned authorities in the district to stop dumping garbage at the site and shift the same to some far off place.
