NEW DELHI, Apr 5: Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Dr. Jitendra Singh said here today that unlike Congress party, we in BJP take every election seriously, regardless of whether it is a Local Body election or an Assembly Election or a Parliament Election and also regardless of who is the contesting candidate.
In an exclusive interview given after the conclusion of the election campaign for Assam Legislative Assembly, Dr. Jitendra Singh said, this is the difference between Congress and BJP, and that the BJP approaches every election collectively is something which is difficult for the Congress leadership to comprehend or understand. He said, under the towering leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and astutely strategic planning by Amit Shah, BJP has set new norms in electioneering which are alien to the temperament or the aptitude of Congress leaders.
When pointed out that he had personally camped in Assam continuously for two months and traveled in different parts of the State, Dr. Jitendra Singh said, to an outsider or onlooker it may seem something unusual but in the work culture of BJP under Narendra Modi, Amit Shah and JP Nadda, this is something naturally expected from every Karyakarta of the party. He said, unlike Congress Party or other opposition parties, during the election time every BJP Karyakarta gets activated as if it is his own personal election and regardless of the post or hierarchy every Karyakarta works day and night, sometimes even oblivious of who is the contesting candidate.
Dr. Jitendra Singh recalled that immediately prior to this, he was involved in the District Development Council (DDC) elections in Jammu & Kashmir and the approach followed was the same. In Assam also, he pointed out that most of us were campaigning even before the names of the candidates were announced and we continued to campaign with the same vigour even after the candidates had been announced.
Dr. Jitendra Singh said, when the party’s first-line leaders like Narendra Modi, Amit Shah and JP Nadda were holding three to four rallies each every day, there was no room for complacency on the part of any other member of the party. He said, the contrast can be drawn from the fact that the Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi during her first visit to Assam thoughtlessly went to the tea garden and out of ignorance started plucking tea leaves off-season, while during her second visit she cut short the tour with the excuse that her husband had turned Corona positive even though she had tested negative. This non-seriousness of the Congress party is very obvious to the common masses who see in BJP not only an extreme degree of seriousness and commitment but also a deep sense of accountability both towards the people as well as towards the party hierarchy.
