UDHAMPUR, Dec 7: Legal Metrology Department (LMD) under the supervision of Assistant Controller (AC), Legal Metrology, Jaideep Singh Sambyal, raided Raj Cineplex and booked the management in connection with overcharging on cold drinks and snacks.
The team seized cold drink and packs of snacks and it was found that management was selling the snacks and cold drink at higher rates instead of the printed rates
The inspector Legal Metrology booked the manager and owner of the Movie theatre under Legal Metrology Packaged Commodities Rules.
Meanwhile, in Kathua district, a team of LMD headed by AC, Ajay Kumar Verma inspected 32 business establishments and booked owners of six of them for violations of various provisions of J&K Weights and Measures Enforcement (amendment) Act 2011 and Package Commodities Rules. Seven challans were compounded and a penalty of Rs 17300 was imposed on erring traders.
The LMD Kathua also installed re-verification and stamping camp at tehsil Nagri during the first week of current month during which the department re-verified 378 different types of weights and measure instruments of 60 traders and realized an amount of Rs 10474 as re-verification and stamping fee.
