21 ‘unscrupulous’ traders booked

Srinagar, Dec 7: A checking squad of Department of Legal Metrology today booked 21 unscrupulous traders and recovered rupees 53, 900 fine from defaulters here in city.
A team under the supervision of Deputy Controller Legal Metrology conducted checking of the establishments dealing with ration, Kiryana, cement, poultry and meat etcetera in various city markets including Habba Kadal, Karan Nagar, Tengpora, Gogji Bagh and Batamaloo, an official said here.
He said the checking squad detected twenty one business establishments violating the provisions of Jammu and Kashmir Weights and Measures (Enforcement) Act 1997 (read with Packaged Commodities Rules 2011).
“The business establishments found indulged in less weighment of cake, overcharging and sale of packages of daily use without mandatory declaration,” the official said, adding that the Deputy Controller Enforcement has recovered composition of rupees 52,900 from the erring business establishments.
