KATHUA, June 24: A PDD lineman was electrocuted in Hatli area near here while working on 11 kv line yesterday.
According to police, the lineman identified as Amar Singh was working on 11 kv line in Hatli area yesterday. He received a power shock and was rushed to GMC Jammu for treatment in a serious condition. But all the efforts of the doctors failed to revive him and he breathed his last late in the night.
Meanwhile the PDD employees held a protest in front of Divisional officer here against the callousness of the authorities towards the field staff resulting into the increasing cases of electrocution of the field employees. They demanded a probe into the matter and compensation of Rs 10 lakh for the bereaved family besides the other perks as admissible under rules and a government job to the next kin of deceased.
