Legal Metrology books three Post Offices

Srinagar, Mar 7: Legal Metrology Department under the supervision of Joint Controller Kashmir today during a surprise inspection of different Post Offices of Srinagar booked three Post Offices for violating Metrology laws.
A spokesman of the department said that the most of the Post Offices are still using unverified weighing scales for taking the weight of parcels etc.
“Three electronic scales were seized and detained by the field officers. The Chief Postmaster of the State has been already informed to direct all the postmasters to get the weighing scales calibrated by the department but the postmasters have shown the poor response,” the spokesman said.
He added that during the inspection one flour mill was also fined Rs. 5000 for not mentioning the obligatory declarations on the packages of atta, sujji, bran.
