Lal Singh takes stock of people’s grievances at Udhampur

UDHAMPUR, Nov 21: Minister for Forests, Ecology and Environment Choudhary Lal Singh today convened a public grievances redressal camp here today and interacted with cross section of the society to take stock of their problems.
During the meeting, many prominent citizens apprised the Minister about the problems being faced by the people of Udhampur. They demanded the creation of sufficient parking area for the decongestion of the city, repair of roads at various places like Pattangarh, Tirshi- Gandala road, construction of new roads from Pattangarh to  Chappar, maintenance of parks in the city,  establishment of sewerage treatment plants and solid waste management plant and establishment of Gaushala in the district.
The shortage of staff at various schools and hospitals, problem of stray animals, scarcity of drinking water, electricity, shifting of offices functioning in the old buildings, beautification of Dhar road,  construction of speed breakers  to prevent over speeding vehicles and overloading by mini buses were  among some other problems which were prominently highlighted raised by the common people during the meeting.
The minister gave a patient hearing to all the problems faced by the citizens and issued on spot directions to the district officers for the redressal of the same at the earliest.
Regarding the shortage of staff at various schools situated in the far- flung areas, the Minister directed the Chief Education Officer to ensure rationalization of staff at various schools so that the studies of the students do not suffer, especially, those living in the remote and far- flung areas.
He directed the CEO, MC to ensure cleanliness at Lambi Gali, Venus Chowk and some other important places in the city.
Detailed discussions were also held on the issue of pending rent cases of those people whose land was acquired by the Army. Tehsildar Udhampur was directed to expedite the whole process so that the compensation could be provided to these people at the earliest.
