KATHUA, Nov 22: A lady was killed after she was hit by a speeding bus at Sapwal when she was crossing the National Highway this morning.
She has been identified as Banti Devi, 68, wife of Mani Ram of Nanak Chak Samba.
According to police a speeding bus bearing number JK08B-5141 which was on its way from Kathua to Jammu hit the lady when she had crossed half of the highway.
The lady was shifted to District Hospital Samba where from doctors referred her to Government Medical College (GMC) Hospital Jammu. But despite the efforts of doctors at GMC the lady succumbed to her injuries.
Her dead body was handed over to her family members after postmortem. The Samba Police has registered a case in this regard under relevant sections of the law. The driver of the bus however fled after the accident while the police has seized the bus.
