JAMMU, Nov 15: The J&K Legislative Assembly’s Sub-Committee on Environment, headed by its Chairman, Javed Rana today visited old city of Jammu and conducted on-the-spot inspection of works being executed by several agencies.
Legislators, Mohammad Yousuf Bhat, Rajesh Gupta, Bassir Ahmad Dar and Abdul Rahim Rather, besides Deputy Commissioner, Jammu, Chief Engineer, PHE, Chief Engineer, UEED, General Manager, National Building Construction Corporation (NBCC), Joint Commissioner, Municipal Corporation, Jammu and officers from the Assembly Secretariat also accompanied the committee during the visit.
Inspecting the works executed under sewerage scheme at various locations in Jammu city including Chogan Slathia and Pacci Dhaki areas by the NBCC, the Committee observed that the objective of the system has not been achieved as most of the households in the locality have not been connected so far with the sewerage system.
It directed the concerned to repair lanes, by-lanes dig by the executing agency for the convenience of people. Undertake repair of the sewerage system, lanes and connect all areas with the sewerage system where the pipes have been laid, the Committee stressed.
