JAMMU, Nov 15: Launching a scathing attack on the State Government for perpetuating bias against the educated youth of Jammu while providing lion’s share to Kashmir region once again in the recent recruitment drive in Police Department, NPP chairman and former minister Harsh Dev Singh sought equitable treatment with the deserving aspirants of both the regions. He cautioned the BJP-PDP combine of dire consequences if the youth of Jammu region were ignored in the sphere of employment anymore.
Addressing a press conference here today, NPP leader said that the unemployment rate of Jammu region remained unabated ever since the unholy alliance of BJP-PDP assumed power. Quoting a report in a section of media about marginalization of Jammu youth in the police selections, he said that such prejudice was simply un-acceptable.
“Out of 10000 police personnel, while 8500 policemen were recruited from Kashmir valley alone, the paltry 1500 were recruited from Jammu region which constituted only 15 percent of the total posts. The BJP had betrayed the Jammu youth and this party along with its ally had thrown the principle of equity and justice to winds only to appease their Kashmir based masters”, anguished Harsh Dev observed.
Further making a particular mention of the select list of constable operators published last year by the J&K Police Department, Singh revealed that out of 642 candidates selected in the General category from the entire State, only 103 candidates were selected from Jammu region and the rest 539 from Kashmir which was highly shocking and prejudicial in nature.
Referring to the 10000 posts of SPOs sanctioned by the Govt of India for J&K earlier, Harsh Dev said that these were out rightly assigned to various districts of Kashmir region with full consent of BJP to appease Kashmiri youth. He regretted that after the voice being raised by the Jammu youth, a paltry share of the posts assigned to the region was despicably misused by the heavily mandated Saffron leaders for their vested interests.
He declared that the young blood of Jammu shall blow BJP to smithereens for bartering away the interests of Jammu youth for the crumbs of power.
