Kulgam theft case solved within hours

Srinagar, Apr 15: Police in Kulgam today solved a theft case by arresting the accused involved in the commission of the crime within hours.
Authorities said that on April 14, the Yaripora police station received a written complaint from Abdul Rashid Dhobi, son of Ghulam Rasool Dhobi and resident of Yaripora, stating that while he was closing his shop, unknown thieves stole his bag from his shop at Main Chowk Yaripora.
In this regard, the police stated that a case, vide FIR No. 24/2024 under relevant sections of the law, was registered at the Yaripora police station.
“Subsequently, a special team led by the SHO of the Yaripora Police Station was constituted. They, after strenuous efforts and utilizing all available means, rounded up a few suspects and subjected them to sustained questioning,” the police said.
During questioning, authorities said, one suspect, namely Saqib Ahmad Ganie, son of Abdul Rashid Ganie and resident of Yaripora, admitted his involvement in the commission of the crime and was accordingly arrested.
Upon his disclosure, the police stated that stolen property (a cash amount of Rs 36,240) and the Record Book of his shop were recovered by the police team.
“Further investigation of the case is in progress,” police said.
