ANANTNAG, June 17: Vice Chancellor University of Kashmir Prof A M Shah today visited the South Campus of the varsity at Anantnag during which he laid the foundation stone of Distance Education Block and also took stock of the various developmental activities and construction work going on at the campus.
Besides laying the foundation stone of Distance Education Block, Prof Shah inspected the work going on at the Auditorium and Library building and directed the construction division of the varsity to expedite the construction work so that both these facilities are thrown open for the benefit of the students and faculty of South Campus at the earliest.
Prof Shah also inspected the proposed site for construction of Arts block.
The Vice Chancellor later visited all the teaching departments of the campus and interacted with the students and listened patiently to the grievances and problems faced by the student community of South Campus.
On the occasion Prof Shah also held a meeting with the various academic coordinators of the South campus and members from teaching faculty.
Director South Campus KU Prof BA Nehvi apprised the Vice Chancellor about the various problems faced by the students and the faculty in terms of infrastructure and other facilities and requested him to speed-up the process of filling the various positions which have already been advertised.
Prof AM Shah assured the Director that all help would be extended in order to make the campus the highest seat of learning in South Kashmir in its true sense.
The Vice Chancellor was accompanied by Registrar KU Prof Zaffar A Reishi, Director DDE Prof Shabir A Bhat, Deputy Registrar Development/General Dr Nissar Mir, Special Secretary to VC Dr Bashir Ahmed Rather, Deputy Registrar Estates Dr Tanveer Ahmed and Executive Engineer KU Mufti Burhan.
