JAMMU, Sept 15: Kashmiri Pandit Sabha (KPS) in its meeting here, today held under the chairmanship of its president K K Khosa  resolved to fight for the passage of the Kashmiri Hindu Shrines and Temples Bill and strengthen the hands of the Prem Nath Bhat Memorial Trust which is spearheading this movement.
The Sabha also warned the Government of a severe backlash in the forthcoming elections in case there is further dilly dallying on the issue at the behest of rogue elements who have developed vested interests in the administering of some of the shrines and temples.
The Sabha urged the Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah to ensure that there is no slippage on the commitment made by him in the recent Apex Committee meeting on the recruitment of the rest of the 1443 youth well before the next meeting of the Apex Committee proposed to be held in April 2014.
The meeting was held to take stock of the progress of the various issues confronting the community.
Addressing the meeting Mr Khosa expressed his anguish over the non commital stance of the Chief Minister regarding the passage of the Temples and Shrines Bill in the Apex Committee meeting which could be another confidence building measure at this juncture. However Mr Abdullah said that he has requested the Congress president Sonia Gandhi to direct the Congress MLA’s to support the Bill as NC was committed for the passage of the Bill.
Mr Khosa said that the action taken report presented before the Apex Committee on the decisions taken in the meeting last year was highly disappointing as none of its decisions had seen the light of the day till now. One of the decisions was active involvement of Apex Committee members to oversee the expectations implementation of the various aspects of the P M’s Package by formation of Sub Committees remained in a complete limbo.
He pointed out that the Government was non serious in the implementation of the package which is obvious due to the fact that during the last five years out of the nine points contained in it only one point had been partly implemented. Out of 6000 jobs under package only 1446 youth had been employed till now putting the future of thousands of others in jeopardy.
Others who were present in the meeting were Ashok Braroo, Ashwani Koul, S.L.Bagati, Ashok Khar Subhash Dhar, J L Zutshi, B.L.Tickoo, G J Kampasi, J.Parimoo, R L Koul, Shamaji Handoo, Rajinder Tickoo and Ashok Tickoo.
