NEW DELHI, Mar 10: Kashmiri Pandit Conference (KPC) while reacting to the boycott call given by the Hurriyat hardliner Syed Ali Shah Geelani to the by elections to two Lok Sabha seats, in Kashmir said that it is not for the first time these separatists have asked people to stay away from the poll process, but it has been a usual habit for them now for last 28 years of turmoil.
KPC chief, Kundan Kashmiri said that history stands testimony to the fact that whenever polls are held in Kashmir, despite terrorist threats, people have always reposed their faith in Indian democracy and came out in large numbers to elect their representatives. They have always defied their calls and participated in polls in large numbers, he added.
This time also people will do so, as separatists have become irrelevant as people of Valley have rejected them and don’t follow them anymore now, he said.
Kashmiri said people of Kashmir by and large have realized that so-called separatist leaders are not their well wishers. Recent disclosure about Geelani’s grandson being gifted a government job have made the people to realize that separatists believe in double standard and are just bothered about themselves and their kith and kin and not for the common masses of Kashmir whom they have made a scapegoat during the 28 years of turmoil to earn good fortunes for themselves through the politics of blackmail.
