Koul reviews functioning of Cooperative Deptt

JAMMU, Jan 19: Secretary to Government, Cooperative Department R. K. Koul reviewed the functioning of the Cooperative Department of Jammu division today.
He was apprised by Additional Registrar, Jammu that out of 749 Cooperative Societies registered in Jammu division under the provisions of Cooperative Societies Act, 1989, 375 Cooperative Societies are functional. The Annual Audit of 369 Cooperative Societies is conducted upto December 2014 and the elections of 49 Societies have been conducted. Similarly, 63 Arbitration cases have been disposed off and 251 Cooperative Societies have been inspected. 50 awareness camps were organized and presently the Cooperative Societies have a membership of 2,52,530.
The Secretary laid specific stress to organize awareness camps across various areas to impart the values and the importance of Cooperative Movement to the general public. All the District Officers were asked to conduct awareness camps in their respective districts. The instructions were imparted that the detail of the awareness programmes conducted by the Cooperative Union must be sought alongwith the photographs, videos and the full details of the programmes.
The progress of Audit was briefed by the Joint Registrar (Audit) and the chair expressed satisfaction over the performance of the Audit Wing.
The working of Super Bazar Jammu was also reviewed and the chair was apprised that the business of Rs. 867.66 lakh has been conducted upto ending December, 2014 of which a tentative profit of Rs. 6 lakh is earned.
