JAMMU, Jan 19: Dr Vivek M Arya, Assistant Professor, Division of Soil Science, SKUAST-Jammu has received best paper presentation award in eighth national seminar on `Sustainable Rural Livelihoods Technological and Institutional Perspective’.
Dr Arya’s paper titled `Portfolios of Climate Resilient of Agriculture Practices vis-à-vis Conservation Agriculture’ discussed about domains of climate smart agriculture. It highlighted the importance of conservation agriculture practices in context of changing climate.
The paper also discussed socio economic aspect of climate change and its impact on agriculture. It gave solution to the issues pertaining to extreme weather events and changing pattern of agriculture. He gave impetus on conservation of agriculture practices, which have the capacity to reduce impact of climate change on agriculture.
The paper examined ecological and economic costs and benefits as well as climatic adaptation of conservation agriculture system.
